New foot and cycling bridge in Norwich

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. People emerging from the bus shelter can't see cyclists going past. Slabbed area on the right should have been the footway.

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. Planing on the left interrupts the footway (in light slabs) right by bus stop, causing conflict.

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. The footway (light grey slab paved area) is interrupted by planting that forces cycles and pedestrians in to conflict.

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. Nasty staged junction with railings to get to the next part of the cycle route.

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. Separation here is quite good.

New build cycle track takes the basic concepts but fails to understand the point. Here the cycle track is separated from traffic by a bay and there is a separate footway.

Two way segregated cycle track in Tombland with signalled crossing on the right to cross to Princes Street. The pedestrians are about to walk on the cycleway. The design for cycles rejoining the road here is poor.

The exit from the cycle track is in to the path of left turning vehicles and buses pulling in to the stop behind the turning car.

Signalled cycle crossing to Princes Street. The pedestrians are on the cycle track, the footway is behind the camera.

Informal zebra crossing of the cycle track to reach a pelican crossing. The waiting area is rather small and the cycle symbols hard to see.

An informal zebra crossing of the cycle track leading to a 'customary crossing' of the road.

A view of the Palace Street (left), Tombland (ahead) and Wensum Street (behind) junction. Cycle can join the cycleway using the gap in the kerbs towards the middle of the picture.

Cycleway from Palace Street. Oncoming cycles are signed to turn right to rejoin the road here.

Very subtle plaques are used to indicate the cycle track. These are ignored or not seen by most people walking.
