This is the obvious route into Norwich station, not the roundabout official one.

There should really be a cycleway here between Norwich station and the river

This was a controversial contraflow because car parking should really have been removed to make spece - but it seems to be working well, with drivers and cyclists being considerate.

Tombland, where Norwich's radial pedalways meet.

Norwich is not flat like Cambridge... this is a genuine hill.

The crossing to Bishop Bridge could be improved for cycling.

New type of sign "Pedestrian and Cycle Zone" on Westlegate, Norwich

King Street, Norwich straight on at this junction onto a raised contraflow cycleway.

Multiple entrances on this stretch of road would be dangerous without a competent design.

Any space for cycling here?

The entry to the Tombland cycleway if heading south on Palace Street. Should you want to turn right in to Wensum Street...?

New 1.5m advisory cycle lanes on Palace Street work when there's no traffic, see #72469 for rush hour.

1.5m advisory cycle lanes have been added to Palace Street with limited success. There is a pair of bollards just before the up ramp.

Palace Street was closed for six months for construction works in Tombland. It has reopened with advisory cycle lanes. Now there is queuing traffic and Norwich drivers seem unaware that they need to keep out of the lane. Couldn't this … [more]

Fifers Lane and Ives Road junction

Fifers Lane and Ives Road junction

Fifers Lane is busy and has HGV traffic. Many people cycle on the footway here.

Ives Road and Fifers Lane junction that could be the site of a Dutch geometry roundabout

Three cyclists are using the footway here because King Street (ring road) is so hostile.

Bracondale

NCN 1 and Purple Pedalway on King Street, a very hostile environment

NCN 1 and Purple Pedalway on King Street, which is the ring road here and very hostile.

Purple Pedalway. The surface on the left is in a poor state, it is an access road to a few houses.

NCN 1 along Princes Street. The surface might be attractive but it's awful to cycle on.

Rupert Street

Trinity Street

The Avenues.

The junction of The Avenues and Coleman Road. Segregated cycle tracks are proposed for The Avenues, what will the junction layout be?

A view down The Avenues. It is proposed to have segregated cycle tracks on both sides. Ed: A short video of that scheme can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFkyEZ8iyCY

Chancellor's Drive isn't very comfortable to cycle along.

Zebra crossing of Bluebell Road also used by cycles.

About 3m wide shared use

The large refuge at the end of Brazen Gate could be modified to provide space for a cycle track.

Very narrow central cycle lane on Brazen Gate. The large refuge on the left may provide space to improve this.

Ipswich Road. The proposal is to remove the turning area and centre bollards and formalise some of the parking on the left and add segregated cycle tracks on both sides.

Hall Road. The proposal is to remove the centre turning area, reduce the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph and add segregated cycle tracks. The trees on the right may have to be removed with compensating trees added behind the camera.

Looking up the hill towards Newmarket Road. It is proposed that the cycleway at the crest of the hill will be two way, however it's unclear how those heading up the hill would join it.

The crossing from the slip road to Eaton on Newmarket Road. It is proposed to add a signalised crossing here.

Wide splays at the entrance to a minor road, Sunningdale.

Newmarket Road with shared use path.

Newmarket Road is quite wide here, with a shared use path.

Newmarket Road junction with Christchurch Road and Lime Tree Road. The toucan could be replaced by a 'green scramble' to allow cycles to join the proposed on-road cycle tracks from the off-road track behind the camera.

Footway on the south side of Newmarket Road, cycling is not legal here. Although this could be made shared use there is the issue of blind entrances and crossing side roads.

Newmarket Road. The signal crossing at #64829 could be moved here?

Newmarket Road gets wider here in the south west direction. Segregated cycle tracks could be built here by replacing the two-stage crossing with a single stage or moving the crossing to the other side of the junction, see #64830.

Newmarket Road with two lanes plus a bus lane. The challenge is how to provide high quality cycle tracks from this point up to where the road widens, which is about where the traffic signals are in the far distance.

At this point Newmarket Road has two lanes plus a bus lane. There is little remaining verge on the far side. The near side footway could be narrowed a little as there is not a huge number of people walking here.

Panorama of Saint Stephens Street, Red Lion Street and Westlegate. It is proposed to improve the streetscape by removing much of the signal, sign and railing clutter.

Junction of Westlegate and Saint Stephens Street and Red Lion Street. It's proposed to close Westlegate (behind the camera) to motor vehicles and to close Red Lion Street to private motors, which would allow much of the traffic signal, … [more]

NCN crosses here using a two stage toucan to join Upper King Street.

A horrible blind corner at the end of King Street. This is shared use and NCN 1

Somewhat confusing signs near the end of King Street: the contraflow path on the left is shared use while one of the no entry signs has an 'except cycles', though I don't think it was intended that this section is two way.

This part of King Street has a contraflow shared use path on the left and a narrow mandatory cycle lane on the right.

A typical poor junction design that asks pedestrians and cyclists to cross on a sweeping curve.

This route is normally closed to motor vehicles and allows cycles and pedestrians to mix.

Crossing at Ipswich Road and Newmarket Road junction. The hugely wide space did not allow for a proper crossing point with priority instead there is lots of paint and poles and buttons to push.
